Intuitive Eating is a framework for approaching food that was developed by dietitians Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch in the 1990’s. It’s becoming increasingly popular today as more and more people realize that dieting and weight control are unsustainable (and, often, miserable!). Intuitive Eating has 10 principles that distill down to:

  • Giving yourself unconditional permission to eat (as much as you need to feel physically satisfied, the types of foods you enjoy, etc.)
  • Letting body signals like hunger and fullness guide most decisions about when and how much to eat, and
  • Developing tools beyond eating (or avoiding food) to navigate emotional distress

This course is designed for individuals who want more ease in their relationship with food and to move away from eating patterns that attempt to control their body shape or size. These changes are challenging to implement alone, so we’re here to help you set up your Intuitive Eating practice.

This course can be compatible with well-managed chronic conditions; however, individuals with active health concerns should consult their healthcare team before enrolling.

The purpose of this course is to improve your relationship with food, increase awareness of hunger and fullness cues, and move away from using food to cope with various forms of stress.  Addressing these issues surrounding food may or may not result in weight changes. We discourage participants from using weight as a metric for “success.”

Yes! This course is for bodies of all shapes and sizes. Our belief is that all bodies can achieve wellness regardless of their weight and the focus of this course is to improve psychological well-being, in addition to physical health, through intuitive eating,

This course is self-paced and can be done at your own speed. We recommend taking some time to process the information being discussed in each module before moving on to the next one, so we believe the course would take a few weeks to complete at a minimum.
